Hiking For Recovery

Hiking, or walking, in nature is conducive to sustaining recovery from alcohol and other drug abuse and addiction.

Nature provides the best environment to soothe the mind, body, and soul. The hike or walk offers the physical component, which stimulates the mind and body by releasing mood-enhancing endorphins.

Completing a hike or a walk in nature provides a sense of accomplishment, which boosts self-esteem and self-efficacy. IHiking for me improved my confidence, my sense of self, and my overall worth.

Also, regarding substance abuse and addictive behavior, if you take the drug of choice away, something needs to replace the prior destructive person, place, or thing, or our drug of choice. Hiking offers a replacement.

Along with my skills, education, experience, and training as a Certified Addictions Specialist, the service I provide is an excellent method for those in need of alcohol and other drug abuse and addiction recovery support.
